My optometrist used to tell me about his parents and their amusing traits. He said they did things like fill up their garage with toilet paper and paper towels from Costco. I took a gulp when he said that–it’s exactly what I did, as well!<\/p>\n

If I could get a hold of him today I’d ask him if he still thinks his parents are old fogies. While shortages rage on, I am looking at a mountain of toilet paper that will get me through April and possibly May if this COVID-19 shutdown continues.<\/p>\n

Why keep so much stuff? When I find products I like, they usually are discontinued. Never wanting that day to come, I stock up–buying the items at the lowest price and sticking them in the garage where people actually notice and make snarky comments.<\/p>\n

Recently I’ve had a few ask me if they could get a roll of Quilted Northern Ultra Plush from my supply they’ve been eyeing. I’ve done many searches and am not seeing my favorite toilet paper available on the open market so I’ll relinquish some cheaper stuff, but not the Northern.<\/p>\n

If things return to normal and consumers revert to their old habits, I look forward to replenishing my supplies once again. Meanwhile, others have learned there’s a sense of freedom in being able to “wipe” as needed.<\/p>\n
