California has millions of daffodils, orchids, roses, tulips, wildflowers, poppies, plumeria and just about anything you can imagine. Spring to summer is the time when not only the flowers blossom, but the garden clubs and organizations host annual flower shows and festivals. Beautiful to look at, to smell, to touch, enjoy and sometimes even taste, flowers are one of nature’s unique and special gifts. If you love flowers or are slightly interested in getting to know them a little better, check out one of the 30 some flower shows and festivals we’ve found to date (and we just started looking this morning!)

At these events you can get ideas for your very own garden, buy plants and celebrate how lucky we are in California to have weather that treats flowers so well. Some shows are free while some charge a fee. Bigger convention shows focus on home & garden decor, while the home-spun garden clubs are more focused on the flowers, themselves. The scent of orange and lemon blossoms is in the air, and that means you are supposed to take time to smell the flowers!

Flower Festivals & Shows 2012:

ARROYO GRANDE -17th Annual 2012 Central Coast Orchid Show & Sale March 31 & April 1, 2012

POINT ARENA – Daffodil Explosion March 10 – 11, 2012

CAMBRIA Wildflower Show April 28-29, 2012

SAN FRANCISCO – SF Flower & Garden Show March 21-25, 2012

SANGER The 24th Annual Blossom Day Festival (and Car Show) March 3, 2012

MURPHYS Daffodil Flower Show March 17-18, 2012

LANCASTER – California Poppy Festival April 21-22, 2012

SACRAMENTO – Cal State Flower, Food & Garden Show April 27,28 & 29, 2012

WOODSIDE – Daffodil Daydreams February 24 – 26, 2012

WOODSIDE – Filoli Flower Show May 11 – 13, 2012

Friday, May 11 — Sunday, May 13

COSTA MESA 23rd Annual Southern California Spring Garden Show April 26-29 2012

JULIAN – Julian Women’s Club Wildflower Show – May 10 – 13, 2012

SAN DIEGO – Plumeria Festival Sept. 1 – 2, 2012

CORONADO Coronado Flower Show A Floral Olympiad April 21 & 22, 2012

LIVERMORE – 43rd Annual Bay Area Daffodil March 3-4, 2012

THOUSAND OAKS – Reflections on 50 Years – A Standard Flower Show and Plant Sale March 10, 2012

ENCINO – 46th Standard Flower Show Holiday Celebrations ” March 10, 2012

ANAHEIM – The Orange County Cactus and Succulent Society Spring Sale and Exhibition March 23, 2012

FORTUNA – 37th Annual Daffodil Show March 24 – 25, 2012

RIVERSIDE – 65th Annual Riverside Community Flower Show April 14-15, 2012

ENCINITAS – Encinitas Garden Festival April 21, 2012

REDLANDS – – Redlands Horticultural & Improvement Society’s 100th Consecutive Annual Flower Show April 21-22, 2012

FOLSOM – Springtime in the Garden April 28 – 29, 2012

LAGUNA BEACH – Gate and Garden Walking Tour of Three Arch Bay May 4, 2012

BONITA – Bonita in Bloom Garden Tour May 9, 2012

MERCED – Merced Garden Club l Garden Tour May 9, 2012

YUCAIPA – – Riverside-San Bernardino Counties Orchid Society Flower Show May 11, 2012

CLAYTON – Clayton Valley Garden Club Plant Sale and Clayton Gardens Tour May 19-20, 2012 .

PACIFIC GROVE April 20-22, 2012 51st Annual Wildflower Show

SANTA BARBARA – Santa Barbara International Orchid Show March 16-18, 2012

LOMPOC – 60th Annual Lompoc Valley Flower Festival June 20 – 24, 2012

Got flowers?
