Bear Valley had a power outage that shut down operations at the resort on the weekend. Not to worry&#8211;things will be up and running again. Check for updates (bearvalley.com). Another word of caution before you go, the Sierra Avalanche Center issued a warning that avalanche danger was expected to be high through the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In a season that&#8217;s been a little to dry for the liking of snow resort operators, this recent storm brought the needed punch to attract tourists&#8211;and skiers are delighted&#8211;tweeting about the powder conditions!<\/p>\n<p><strong>3-Day New Snow Breakdown:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 percent of Heavenly is now open, the first time this season that the double-black off-piste terrain has been accessible.<\/li>\n<li>Heavenly&#8217;s Killebrew Canyon, featuring some of the most extreme terrain you\u2019ll find anywhere is open.<\/li>\n<li>North Tahoe: Alpine Meadows &#8211; 83 inches of new snow, base snowpack on top of 157 inches<\/li>\n<li>Donner Ski Ranch &#8211; 88 inches<\/li>\n<li>Squaw Valley &#8211; 80 inches<\/li>\n<li>Sugar Bowl &#8211; 79 inches<\/li>\n<li>Southern California&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/sports\/big-bear-lake-skiing.html\">Bear Mountain<\/a> &#8211; 27 inches of new snow, more expected<\/li>\n<li>SoCal&#8217;s Mount Baldy &amp; Mountain High &#8211; 22 inches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Base Snow Reports:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alpine Meadows &#8211; 157 inches<\/li>\n<li>Kirkwood at Carson Pass &#8211; 144 inches , 150 inches total expected with new storm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rain and snow reached the entire 1,000 mile length of California on St. Patrick&#8217;s Day weekend, and the California ski resorts couldn&#8217;t be more delighted, except for one.
