There used to be miles of flower fields stretching throughout California. That was before South America began beating the U.S. in flower sales. When other countries and global regions started selling floral products cheaper, the cut flower and flower seed industries\u00a0 in California were forever diminished–operations were shut down. It became painfully apparent in 2012 that we had no flowers when a “made in America” company, Kit Cat Clock, sponsored a Rose Parade float<\/a> but couldn’t find flowers grown in the U.S. for the entry’s floral design!<\/p>\n

So why is there still a commercially-grown field of flowers to see in San Diego County? The extremely popular Carlsbad Flower Fields<\/a> exist\u00a0 because San Diego flower growers decided that Americans need inspiration.
