In the heart of California Gold Country, Sonora is a town steeped in artifacts of the gold rush era of the late 1840s and 1850s.\u00a0 One of the highlights to this culturally rich region in the Sierra Nevada foothills is the lifestyle of the people that live there. Sure, they have a Walmart, a movie theater, Starbucks and all the trappings of modern life. But there’s also Columbia State Historic Park, St. James Historic Red Church built in 1859 and Legends<\/a>, a soda fountain containing a bar some believe was built around 1850. It is spectacular to see!\u00a0 But don’t forget to order an old fashioned Root Beer Float, Blue Bunny Ice Cream, or browse books and antiques.
