Last week we visited the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/photos\/long-beach\/gallery-garden.html\">Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden<\/a> on the campus of Cal State Long Beach and enjoyed seeing a big blue heron, colorful waterlilies, and dozens of huge koi fish swimming in the ponds. It was a surprisingly busy place for school being out of session now. Open to the public free of charge, you can wander through the garden, see a tea house and visit during special events such as an upcoming &#8220;Pruning of the Black Pines&#8221; on June 10 &amp; 24, 2012.
