Natural minerals in the rocks create spectacular palettes of color.<\/p>\n<p>If you grew up in a place where it&#8217;s hot, then you&#8217;ll understand the question, &#8220;Is it hot enough for you?&#8221; In the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seecalifornia.com\/california\/regions-deserts.html\">California desert region\u00a0<\/a> the saying brings new meaning to turning the heat on.\u00a0 Badlands and Death Valley are descriptive names of places in a seemingly god-forsaken desert. They paint a grim picture&#8211;\u201cbad&#8221; and \u201cdeath&#8221;! Each year unwitting tourists fall victim to the extreme heat in North America&#8217;s hottest place.
