Art from Scrap’s Retro Muse Exhibit in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA — Retro Muse opens at the Art From Scrap AFS Gallery in downtown Santa Barbara with a reception Oct. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. Retro Muse features the work of well known assemblage artists Susan Tibbles, Tony Askew, Dug Uyesaka, Ron Robertson, and Alver; all of whom have been selected as the “Assemblage Muse” at the Art From Scrap Annual Assemblage Art Show. The award is given to artists who exemplify the spirit of the event and the mission of Art From Scrap. These five artists were honored for their contribution to assemblage art in Santa Barbara , and for inspiring artists to take up the medium.

Located upstairs from the Art From Scrap Reuse Store, AFS Gallery’s newest exhibition will be shown from October 22- December 11, 2010.

Art From Scrap is Santa Barbara ’s Environmental Education and Art Center . The AFS Gallery is located upstairs at Art From Scrap. Rotating shows hang throughout the year bringing together art lovers, collectors and local artists. Groundbreaking exhibits have included five mosaic murals from fire survivors and seminars teaching communities how to set up green gardens.

The 14th Annual Menlo Park Sidewalk Arts and Crafts Fall Fest is coming to Menlo Park, October 15-17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Located in Menlo Park, along Santa Cruz Avenue off El Camino Real, the event includes original works by 90 artists including jewelry, photography, ceramics, painting, sculptures and much more. The Muck Moonlight Masquerade Ball Oct. 24
