2013 Events at L.A. Autry

It’s always exciting to see what the new year brings at the finest heritage museum in the west, located in Los Angeles. Autry National Center 2013 exhibitions and events include an extended showing of the popular Katsina in Hopi Life (left photo), which closes December 1, 2013. 16th Annual Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale February 2–March 17, 2013 features new work from more than 75 nationally recognized artists from across the country. Other events and exhibits include:

  • Four Centuries of Pueblo Pottery, opens April 2013 – more than 100 pieces of rare ceramics from the Autry’s Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection.
  • Jews in the Los Angeles Mosaic May 3, 2013–January 5, 2014 See how Jews helped change the city by recruiting the Brooklyn Dodgers, inventing the Barbie doll, and joining other Angelenos in electing the city’s first African American mayor.
  • Art of the West Opens June 2013 – new permanent gallery includes never-before-seen artworks from the Autry’s rich collections, including the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection.
