25 Free Things to Do this Holiday Season in San Diego

San Diego, the sunniest, warmest oceanfront city in California, has thousands of free things to do all year round but the winter season when the weather is perfectly delightful is an ideal time to visit and enjoy special holiday treats. Here are over 25 free things to do this Winter 2012:

  1. Big Bay Balloon Parade, the country’s largest balloon parade, is held on December 27, 2012.  Floats, balloons and marching bands participate in this colorful holiday parade along San Diego Bay in downtown San Diego.
  2. Balboa Park December Nights, a two-day holiday celebration of food, entertainment and fun on December 7-8.
  3. Mother Goose Parade on November 18 in the East County city of El Cajon. The largest parade in San Diego County, the event features floats, clowns, Santa Claus, marching bands, equestrian teams and celebrity appearances.
  4. Free organ concerts at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park beginning at 2 p.m. each Sunday in November and on Dec. 30, Jan. 20 and Feb. 17. The Organ Pavilion features the world’s largest outdoor pipe organ.
