4th of July Consumer Trends

What do Californians do on the 4th of July? Independence Day has taken on a different meaning from the early days in which the holiday was founded. When a research company asked the nation and California about their celebrations, here is what was discovered…the family car is packed with beach gear, the grills are hot and consumers are eager to get this summer started.

  • 62% of adults over 18 years old will celebrate the holiday the traditional way by attending or hosting a cookout/BBQ or picnic.
  • 60.8% own an American flag.
  •  42.4% will watch fireworks or attend a community celebration.
  • 41.9% own patriotic apparel such as a t-shirt or hat.
  • 27.3% of consumers own patriotic decorations.
  • 16.2% of consumers will head to stores to buy new patriotic merchandise.
  • 12.2% will attend a parade.
  • 11.5%  will travel or take a vacation.
