While some are attending the flower shows, wine festivals, art walks and fundraising galas this this weekend, others will be riding the rail, panning for gold, and trick roping. Here are a few dusty, rusty California-or-bust festivals and events to make you say yee-haw!

  • SPRINGVILLE Rodeo Apr. 24-26, 2015 features Tomas Garcilazo. He began learning “Floreo de Reata” (rope artistry) as a child and is now one of the finest performer of La Charreria,  the National Sport of Mexico.
  • FILLMORE Railfest Apr. 25-26 includes Train Rides, Frontier Gunfights, Speeder Rides, antique farm equipment and more.
  • PARADISE Gold Nugget Days Apr. 23-26 with gold panning, donkey derby and a parade
  • DOLBEER Steam Donkey Days Apr. 25-26. Timber Heritage Association will be on hand to steam up the historic Falk shay locomotive and provide free train rides.
  • HEMET Ramona through May 3. From the hills come men on horseback re-enacting an outdoor play/pageant.
