Activities at the Lavender Festival in Cherry Valley (pictured) have included a horse drawn wagon ride through the lavender fields

Three lavender festivals this weekend serve up plenty of purple power. Lavender isn’t just a great plant to look at and photograph, however. There are benefits to using lavender oil on your skin (natural bug repellent, mellows a headache or sinuses from allergies.) Dried lavender plant can be placed in little bags (cachets) to sit in your dresser drawer, kitchen shelf, or place under your pillow when you sleep at night. In addition to the lavender plant making nice accents in flower arrangements a portion of the plant is edible. From a delicious tea beverage to seasoning for lavender cakes and cookies, learn about its many uses and benefits at a lavender festival. This weekend you will find lavender festivals in Rumsey, Cherry Valley and Flinn Springs.
