Ojai Classical Music Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival, Huck Finn Bluegrass Jubilee and Reggae in the Hills are part of a weekend so musically diverse, we thought we’d share a few highlights of the magic:
- REGGAE: Angels Camp Reggae in the Hills June 12-14, 2015. Does “Marley” ring a bell? One of Bob Marley’s kids, Ky-Mani Marley, is “in the house” (hills).
- JAZZ: World famous Playboy Jazz Festival at Hollywood Bowl June 13-14 grooves with Herbie Hancock & Wayne Shorter with Monk Institute Ensemble.
- BLUEGRASS: Huck Finn Jubilee in Ontario June 12-14 delivers the goods with Bela Fleck, Ralph Stanley and the biggest bluegrass jam in the world!
- WORLD MUSIC: Berkeley World Music Festival June 13 includes Afropop, Native American, Arabian, Brazilian, Balkan and more!
- PUNK ROCK: Long Beach Ink n Iron Tattoo, Car and Music Festival includes The Dickies and Wanda Jackson, Queen of Rockabilly.
- INDIE ROCK: Sonoma’s Huihcica Music Festival June 12-13 presents Shannon & the Clams and other Indie classics.
- ROCK: Fairfax Festival features Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin’s band) with original members Peter Albin and Dave Getz.
- CLASSICAL: Ojai Music Festival June 10-14 is big on Bartok but the sold out show features classical renditions of songs from Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Kurt Cobain.
