Encinitas, CA – At 5:15 p.m. on November 1, in a downtown alley on the back of the Coast Hwy Traders the first mural of the Encinitas 101 MainStreet Association’s Alley Activation Program includes entertainment and costume contests for those who come dressed in Day of the Dead dress, including pets. Alley Activation Program organized by the Encinitas 101 MainStreet Association is designed to bring more foot traffic to downtown alleys and eliminate the criminal activity that the alleys have attracted for many years. Plans include additional murals, landscaping, lighting, and improvements. With a number of businesses operating out of the alleys funding to help launch the project came from Encinitas City Council ($5,000 for 2015) and Neighborhood Reinvestment Grant ($10,000) from the County of San Diego for 2015/2016. The brief unveiling ceremony and celebration continues for the 21+ crowd, moving over to Daley Double Saloon for specially-priced drinks. When visiting Encinitas, a north San Diego County coastal city, be sure to visit its famed beaches and the boat houses.
