Something that rarely happens in San Francisco did on Labor Day Weekend — it got hot! In addition to multiple wildfires throughout the state, on Friday, September 1, the temp clocked in at 106°, slightly cooler than San Jose at 108°, Sacramento at 109°, and Death Valley at 112°.
Although air conditioners are now standard equipment in most U.S. homes, more than 40% of California households do not use AC. Additionally, due to the mild climate, 14% of California homes are not heated.
