Chinese New Year Parties Just Getting Started in California
If you’re feeling a little sadness realizing that the holiday season is over and it’s a long road to summer, don’t feel that way. The Chinese, Tet and Asian communities in California are just getting the party started with a bunch of Lunar New Year’s celebrations that include the huge Asian American Expo (pictured) at Fairplex in Pomona Jan.13-14, 2018. This event has grown from a trade show 37 years ago to a massive festival featuring contemporary Asian lifestyle events such as concerts, dancing, fashion shows & shopping, comics, gaming and technology exhibits, plus traditional and new Asian foods, pageantry and more.
Asian New Year activities are especially meaningful to anyone who owns a canine pet in The Year of the Dog 2018! If you’re a dog lover you’ll be glad to celebrate as parades and festivals pay homage to man’s best friend. You should attend.

- San Francisco’s Chinese New Year Parade is the biggest in the USA!
- Monterey Park closes down the street for their weekend shindig. So does the city of Alhambra.
- The Orange County Tet Community (biggest in U.S.) provides the flavor of Little Saigon at Orange County Fairgrounds.
- San Diego annual Chinese New Year Festival is massive.
- Sacramento has 2 weekends and four days of celebrating with a Tet flower festival and parade.
- Marysville continues the fun through March 2018 with the Bok Kai Parade and festival.
