Being in a wheelchair can ruin a perfectly good day if you let it. But for trailblazer Michael Muir, descendant of the famed John Muir, he refused to let multiple sclerosis which he’s had since he was 15, hold him back. The 62-years young maverick who believes in challenging the limits of a disability, once led an international team of people with disabilities driving wheelchair accessible horsedrawn carriages on a 3,00 mile, 10 month journey across America.

His company,  Access Adventure, offers customized rides and confidence-building experiences for the disabled who come to his ranch in Suisun City, just outside Fairfield (the Jelly Bean Capital.) Michael Muir was selected as “Californian of the Year” by Outdoor Writers Association of California in August 2014. Living by the motto of his great-grandfather, he’s not only built a business on going, “Anywhere Wild”, he’s also managed to inspire and motivate others to rise above life’s challenges.
