Apricot Fiesta is the Besta
The Apricot Capitol of the World, Patterson, is having an Apricot Fiesta this weekend and it’s the besta! Apricot pie eating contests, Apricot Queen, apricot ice cream, and apricots by the dozen are a few things to anticipate before the big Apricot Parade marches through the city, complete with apricot-themed floats and an apricot-clad mascot. Though some argue that Patterson’s Apricot Fiesta is window dressing for an industry taken over by Turkey (which ships dried apricots that sell for half or one-third the price,) that’s not to say we shouldn’t support local farmers. California grows over 90% of all apricots in the U.S. Eat apricots for good health–they’re loaded with vitamins and have high concentrations of B17 which helps in fighting cancer.
