Arroyo Grande, a 2 Exit Town with 4 Wineries to Visit

Published on: June 17, 2012

Somewhere on the Central Coast is the city of Arroyo Grande. The road sign slightly buried in tall bushes states that you can access it at the Next 2 Exits. If you miss one, you get a second chance to leave Highway 101 and see the city’s charms. Maybe you want to grab a bite to eat, sip some wines at wineries down country roads, or attend free summer concerts in the park. You might even walk across the Swinging Bridge, and see the chickens and roosters that wander around  Heritage Square Park. Are you getting the picture? Arroyo Grande is not New York City, and it certainly never hopes to become such a place.

What to do in Arroyo Grande:

  • Get a burrito at El Taco Loco, pizza at Klondike’s and chase it down with Doc Burnstein’s homemade ice cream
  • See the old San Manuela Schoolhouse
  • Walk on the bridge
  • Shop in town
  • Taste wines at Arroyo Grande vineyards:  Kynsi (kynsi.com), Laetitia Vineyard (laetitiawine.com), Phantom Rivers (phantomrivers.com), and Talley Vineyards (talleyvineyards.com).
