Bite Crime at National Night Out

Always the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out on August 1, 2017 expects more than 350 California cities and counties to participate. National Night Out programs include Dog Walker Watch, encouraging some 75 million dog owners in the U.S. to take a bite out of crime when walking pets. Block parties, civic / police expos and even a fun “Touch a Truck” festival at Rio de Los Angeles Park in L.A. are among the celebrations.

  • Top stolen items: cash, jewelry, laptops, guns, small electronics
  • 95% of break-ins are forced entries — screwdrivers, pliers, pry bars, hammers
