Blue Martini and Summer Blues

Published on: August 15, 2012

Are you feeling kinda’ blue? There’s a martini to fit that mood. Maybe you are seeing red or are green with envy. We don’t recommend you hit the bottle to shake that mood off, but with some vodka (or gin), a shaker, and a few added ingredients you will be on your way to good times–maybe even a party.

Martinis have come a long way, baby, since they first began in “one size fits all”. Bartenders and mixologists are constantly shake it up with new martini drinks–there are hundreds, maybe thousands to date–Double Chocolate Fudge, Cuban, Danish, Cranapple, Granny’s Apple, Eucalyptus, Raspberry, Peppermint, Lemon Drop, Key Lime, Mexican, Milky Way and Mars–the list goes on and on.  If you prefer not to invest in the liquor just yet, try a cocktail at a restaurant or bar. An average martini ranges anywhere from $5 on the cheap side to $20 or more in high-end places.  At BevMo, which has nearly 100 stores throughout California, you can buy  single serving bottles of  vodka with prices starting around $1. We’ve provided a few simple recipes that are easy to make, not requiring many ingredients.
