California Hats

Opening Day and Hat Day at Empire Polo Club on January 7, 2018 reminds many to think of hats. See the upcoming hat events in California!

From New Year’s celebrations where party hats are a must to bustling Disneyland where an estimated 100 million hats have been sold, it’s safe to say that hats are big in California.

  • When wealthy friends went on a Norwegian Cruise recently she was asked to take off her fashionable hat at dinner. Steamed, she wrote a seething letter to the president of the company after the trip.
  • When a group held a march at an Orange County beach path to support the President last spring, they were blocked by black-hatters who grabbed their red ball caps with the words, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”.
  • As California actress Meghan Markle acclimatizes to becoming a member of the British Royal Family she has begun wearing big hats, the signature attire for this exclusive club.

Do you have any hats that cause a reaction when you wear them? Here are a few of mine:

  • A ball cap that had an emblem and said, “Alien Technology Division”.
  • During the start of the online hotel booking boom one hat I wore said, “TripAdvisor”. I had to take it off during press trips as hosts worried I was there to attack and report back.
  • At a Halloween costume party I wore a top hat with a sign that said, “PRESS”. When I began firing my big Nikon camera with flash people ran up to me wondering which newspaper they would appear in.
