First, the fizzle. It came in like a breeze and poof, it was gone! Marina Festival of Winds (kite festival) has been a wonderful annual tradition attracting tourists to the seaside city between Monterey and Santa Cruz each year. But it was announced that it will be gone like the wind.

Now, the sizzle! Not to worry. Just up the road Santa Cruz has a kite festival it’s glad to share with all who attend. You’ll find kite festivals throughout California, including San Francisco, Berkeley and San Ramon. In Southern California there are kite festivals in San Diego’s Ocean Beach, Redondo Beach, Huntington Beach, and Seal Beach shown in the picture above.  Celebrate kites during National Kite Month (nationalkitemonth.org) in April by flying a kite, or you can start up your very own kite festival, which isn’t hard to do. It’s one of those adventures that kids and adults both enjoy.
