California grows 10 super foods that can help prevent things such as Alzheimer’s, macular degeneration, cataracts, cancer and diabetes. Skipping the double cheese burger, french fries and chocolate fudge sundae doesn’t have to be so painful. Here are 10 California super foods that offer many benefits and taste delicious in the hands of great chefs:

1. Blueberries: top the list of antioxidant-rich fruits and may help prevent age-related diseases, including Alzheimer’s and some forms of cancer
2. Salmon: rich in Omega-3s, thought to have heart-protective and disease-fighting benefits, and may even help ease depression
3. Tomatoes: help lower the risk of certain types of cancer, especially prostate, lung and stomach
4. Spinach: high lutein content protects against eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and cataracts
