Begonias Around the World is the theme of the 2016 Capitola Begonia Festival which includes aquatic floats decorated with home-grown flowers from the fields near Capitola by the Sea. Participants each year grow flowers in months leading up to the big event, then a volunteer corps picks the biggest, best specimens to place on the floating floats that merrily traverse Soquel Creek in the nautical parade. Each Labor Day weekend this festival attracts visitors far and wide who enjoy watching the parade, build sand castles, listen to bands, shop, eat and live like a local in this treasured beach town south of Santa Cruz.
