Maybe you left the Thanksgiving Day dinner with no leftovers. Or perhaps you didn’t eat turkey at all. While it is hands-down the #1 meal dish on Thanksgiving, all bets are off when the day is done.

Business was booming at our local Chinese take-out the day after turkey day. That’s when Chinese restaurants see increases in customers, culminating in Christmas — the busiest day of the year for most Chinese restaurants in America. With well over 40,000 Chinese restaurants to choose from in the U.S., the availability of affordable meals for both meat-eaters and vegetarians spans the country in places big and small.

While SeeCalifornia staff get energized by a place called Gong’s which has specialized in Chinese-American dishes for 40 years in Southern California, most diners have a favorite Chinese restaurant for their Chicken Chop Suey and other dishes they crave during the holidays.

One of the Bay Area’s holiday dining traditions is  Kung Pao Kosher Comedy in San Francisco where guests eat in a Chinese restaurant and watch Jewish comedy on Christmas Day. Now that’s funny!
