Grammy Winner Straight Outta Compton

How well do you know Compton? It has a reputation as rough place, but is receiving positive press, thanks to the mayor’s ‘New Vision for Compton’ revitalization strategy, and the Grammy winners’ songs & videos using Compton as a backdrop. The mayor is presenting The Key to the City to Lamar on February 13, 2016, just two days shy of the Grammy Awards presentation in which the music star has a whopping 11 nominations for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Rap Album! In 2015 he picked up two awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “i”.
President Obama invited Kendrick Lamar to the White House recently to discuss Pay it Forward mentoring campaign and said Lamar’s “How Much A Dollar Cost,” was his favorite song. Stay tuned for the upcoming movie release, “Straight Outta Compton,” in theaters this summer.
