Placerville’s Cowboys & Cornbread at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds on July 19, 2015, is a popular annual event in “Hangtown” celebrating the region’s heritage with a day of entertainment, contests and shows. Competitions include the best cornbread receipe, Mutton Bustin’ for kids, Buckle Bonanza Horse Show, Harmonica Championship and Cowboy Poetry. It’s amazing how everyday guys dressed in cowboy boots and Stetson hats convincingly play the roles of 19th century era Western characters.
California’s authentic Western heritage continues to shine next week at Norco’s Day of the Cowboy celebration.
