When the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival opens its gates February 14 – 23, 2014, Queen Scheherazade will be there, like she is year after year. Does she have a date? She has lots of them in the is food/fair festival which takes place in one of the best climates for growing dates.

In addition to combining food (date shakes, funnel cakes, BBQ and lemonade,) with thrills such as Camel and Ostrich Races, Demolition Derby, Monster Trucks, Bull-O-Rama and Fiesta del Charro, the performance of award-winning Arabian Nights Musical Pageant makes guests feel as if they’re in an exotic land.

Why doesn’t Queen Scheherazade ever age? Each year a new queen and her court are selected, eager to learn the ropes, fulfill the duties and participate in performance schedules during the hand-picked “dates”. Though the fair is now in its 68th year, it’s fresh, exciting and never exactly the same.
