Archbishop José H. Gomez wears a big hat, figuratively speaking. The highest-ranking Hispanic bishop in the United States is the fifth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, serving over 5 million Catholics in 287 Parish churches. You’ll often see him at the magnificent Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in the heart of downtown L.A. This weekend on March 26, 2016  if you bring your beloved animal(s) and get in line at Father Serra Park around 1 p.m. you’ll have an opportunity to have pets blessed by Archbishop Gomez. The 86th annual Blessing of the Animals is free to attend and being Catholic is not a prerequisite for participation.

It’s certainly not the beginning or end of a busy weekend for the Archbishop who officiates the 1 p.m. Easter Sunday Mass, Domingo de Pascua, at the Cathedral. Free guided tours of the cathedral are offered daily, see olacathedral.org
