Eat Like a Greek Every Week

For those who have yet to fully embrace the Mediterranean diet, there’s an easy solution. Head for a Greek festival and sample some of the salads, pita breads and scrumptious dishes. If you decide to throw caution to the wind, order up a full meal with lamb or chicken entrees and definitely don’t skip dessert!

It’s a little piece of heaven right on the church grounds where you can sample exotic beverages such as Greece’s national drink, Ouzo (an anise-flavored aperitif,) dance, shop, take tours and hop on carnival rides. What you’ll notice most is that Greek parishes putting on these events have all hands on deck (including youth volunteers) and while they’re working their buns off, they maintain welcoming smiles and gracious attitudes. We’ve never met a Greek festival we didn’t enjoy and always support these major fundraising events.
