It’s mid-July and shoppers have already begun hunting for bargains on back-to-school merch just when summer heats up. With so much to see this week, shelve the shopping plans and go enjoy the festivals and events that are yours for the asking.

6 Fantastic Mid-July Happenings

  • NAPA: Festival Napa Valley, where culture meets (wine) country, offers 10 days of classical, Broadway and jazz concerts, brunches, luncheons, dinners & tours, salted with some free events July 20-29, 2018. It’s the ultimate in entertainment delivered on the doorsteps of the most popular wine destination in the country.
  • SALINAS: California Rodeo, one of the biggest rodeos in the nation featuring professional bull riders, showcases the spirit of the West July 19-22. Some of the most daring and talented athletes in outdoor arenas at California Rodeo Fairgrounds entertain and amaze at this non-stop action event.
  • SAN CLEMENTE: Ocean Festival July 21-22 is a homespun event but don’t let the pancake breakfasts, rubber ducky race, sand sculpting contests and art shows fool you. The celebration attracts some of the most fit and trained water sportsmen (including women and kids,)  in ocean contests.
  • SAN MATEO: Nothing says summer like a street festival with artisan booths, bands and tons of food at SummerFest July 21-22.
  • CAMARILLO: Straddling the border of Los Angeles and the Central Coast, Camarillo enjoys a little bit of city and lots of country charm when the Fiesta and Street Fair comes to town July 19-22. Carnival rides are a top draw.
  • JOHNSVILLE: Gold Discovery Days July 21-22 is a feel-good festival combining an historic setting, plenty of period costumes, gold panning and a bonanza of free activities for the whole family — wholesome!
