California brings home the bacon at Christmas time. While Frozen dolls beat out the world-famous Barbie doll this year as the #1 gift for girls, both products are from California companies, Disney and Mattel. And to make matters cozier, Mattel holds the licensing rights to the Disney Frozen dolls through 2015. For boys this holiday season Lego bricks are the most popular choice. While California isn’t the producer or manufacturer of Legos, the state is home to the first Legoland built in the U.S. And by the way, it has one of only several Lego stores, which happens to be in Downtown Disney next to the theme park. Just below Lego in popularity for boys are Hot Wheels (from El Segundo-based Mattel) and similar toy cars and trucks.

Disney recently announced that due to the Frozen craze, a new ‘Frozen Fun’ at the Disneyland Resort launches on  Jan. 7, 2015. It features magical adventures with characters from the Walt Disney Pictures blockbuster film. For a limited time the live Frozen experiences will be available in the Hollywood Land area of Disney California Adventure Park. Guests will meet Anna and Elsa in an elegant, new location, sing along with the Frozen soundtrack in the Crown Jewel Theatre, play in the snow, get a hug from Olaf the snowman and chill out at a nighttime, family dance party. In addition, a new Frozen -themed show opens in Disneyland Park Jan. 7, 2015
