Gilroy Gardens Opens for Spring, Summer Season

Published on: April 06, 2012

GILROY, CALIF. — Before there was Gilroy Gardens (gilroygardens.org) there was Gilroy Garlic. That will help you to understand why one of the rides in the Cedar Fair-owned theme park has garlic shapes surrounding the seats.

The fabulous nature themed amusement is part botanical garden and part kiddie amusement park. It attracts both adults to see the flowers and unique bonsai trees, and children to the gentle rides. Waterfalls and streams fill the park with graceful beauty and you can even hop aboard a swan and glide around one of the ponds, enjoying the beautiful scenery as you go. Open each year around Spring Break to Fall season, then opening again for a holiday lights show in December, Gilroy Gardens is worth seeing when driving on the 1-101 south of San Jose in the Bay Area.
