The Perfect Storm of Greek Festivals

The sun will come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There’ll be sun!

Imagine a post-coronavirus world where things return to the way they were. St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, mega-concerts such as Coachella, the 4th of July and our favorites–Greek festivals–will resume. The problem is NOT that it’s sure to happen, but when. With many spring events rolling forward to later dates, there may be a perfect storm of festivals around the State of California happening all at once.

When the sun comes up and everyone gets the go ahead to live life large, people will be invited to postponed weddings, birthdays, funeral memorials and they’ll enjoy their overdue vacations, theme park visits and attendance at thousands of scheduled festivals competing with others postponed due to COVID-19. There’s going to be a lot on Californians’ plates literally–especially when it comes to eating Greek!

If Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson do their normal stint officiating at the Los Angeles Greek Fest this October, they’ll be among those who can attest that the sun will come up and you’ll feel better every day. They tested positive for coronavirus, self-quarantined while in Australia where Hanks had been doing pre-production work on a film about singer Elvis Presley, and returned to the U.S. after they recovered.

California Greek Festivals dates may change again, but here are some rescheduled event dates and some that have not had to make changes as of this posting.
