Halloween is believed to be a time when the veil thins between the living and dead, and we seem to connect easier with the spirits of those who have passed. “Haunted” houses are fascinating places because one person may find nothing to get excited about, while another walks into the same room and blurts out: “A lady died in this spot and I see her right now!” The majority of haunted houses in California this Halloween are manufactured out of thin air and someone’s imagination for pure entertainment. We’ve uncovered around 50 such haunted houses advertised (or buried) in the pages of city websites. These haunted attractions are great entertainment showcasing the creative talents of those who have lovingly built the haunted fantasy for you to enjoy this Halloween. Be warned: a haunted house or attraction can play on your fears and make you really scared or claustrophobic. Most haunted houses come with age recommendations for admission and also include guidelines generally prohibiting  touching of the cast/characters. Likewise, they shouldn’t be touching you!
