Huck Finn Goes Fishing

More than 175 happy kids from age 7 to 15 participated in the Huck Finn Fishing Derby at Huntington Beach Pier on Saturday, Aug. 15. “It’s a really fun event, where children learn about fishing. Some have never fished before and they are loaned rods and bait,” said Game Warden Larry Stephens of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. “This gives kids who’ve never fished their first opportunity and the younger generation learns about how to help preserve our beautiful natural resources, such as the ocean and  creatures in it.”  Read more…>

  • Grunion Run – there are five more expected runs in 2015, including tonight, Aug. 16!
  • Free fishing days – California free fishing day is September 5, all ages are free to fish, no license required but limits and rules apply.
