The public is invited to the unveiling of the permanent, free-to-see Huell Howser “That’s Amazing! Thirty Years of Huell Howser and California’s Gold,” on March 29, 2014, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on the Chapman University campus in Orange. Sponsored by the Automobile Club of Southern California and housed in Chapman University’s Leatherby Libraries, the exhibition opening day includes a special fee-based screening of a new documentary film, “A Golden State of Mind: The Storytelling Genius of Huell Howser,” created by Chapman film professor Jeff Swimmer.

Before Huell Howser died he willed his film archives to Chapman University with the request that they digitize his shows and make them available for the public to view free on the Internet (huellhowserarchives.com).

The open house includes:
Personal appearances by some of the favorite people showcased on shows.
Food vendors featured on memorable episodes of the shows.
The release California’s Gold tour map while supplies last.
Tours of the exhibit, which features a replica office, a quote wall, career artifacts, pieces from his eclectic personal art collection, and fan gifts from his travels throughout California.

Event parking is available in the Barrera Structure at Sycamore and Lemon and in the Lastinger Structure located off Walnut between Glassell and Center in the City of Orange. No permits are required to park on the day of the event.
