National Ice Cream Day, part of July’s National Ice Cream Month, falls on the third Sunday which is coming up!
One of the hardest things about going on a diet is not eating ice cream. While common sense says you can eat diet versions and eat smaller portions, some of us have a passion that can’t be controlled. Give us a gallon of premium quality ice cream and we’ll scarf down the entire container in one sitting! The diet stuff, eh, not so much.
Californians eat tons of ice cream — we are the leading state to produce this delicious dessert. In a single year California’s ice cream makers churn out over 135 million gallons!
California zoos make good use of the public’s love of ice cream by hosting summer fundraisers in which you can lick, slurp and taste to your heart’s content in a wild, zoo setting. Atascadero’s Charles Paddock Zoo held one of these events, I Scream Zoofari, last Saturday.
