The annual IHOP National Pancake Day (ihoppancakeday.com) takes place on March 4, 2014. Guests can hop by participating IHOPs, sit down and get a buttermilk short stack containing 3 pancakes, free! What’s the catch? You’re encouraged to donate money which goes to select charities. In the past eight years $13 million has been raised for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospitals for Children and other organizations.

FAST IHOP FACTS:

  • There are over 280 IHOP chain restaurants in California, with most participating in the promotion.
  • IHOP was founded in Toluca Lake, Calif.  in 1958.
  • Several years ago the Glendale-based IHOP (International House of Pancakes) with over 1,500 locations purchased Applebee’s (over 1,900 chain restaurants.) The combined companies operate under the name DineEquity.
  • Sweet Cream Cheese Crepes with three fruit topping options is the latest limited time offer.
