ABOUT: Each year through events such as the Lake Arrowhead car show, awareness of Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) is brought to public attention. In 2009, then 7 month old Gavin, the inspiration of GRSF, was diagnosed with LCA, an extremely rare childhood retina disease that is present at birth, and causes blindness in both eyes. Unwilling to accept the fact that nothing could be done, GRSF was created; a 501c3 non-profit organization, ran by a group of dedicated volunteers. Since its inception, GRSF has made remarkable strides. With the help of a team of scientists here in the US, and Beijing, the funds go toward medical research to bring about treatment of this blinding disease.
