Largest California Unclaimed Veterans Memorial Service

DIXON, CALIF.–The Sacramento Valley National Cemetery and its Missing in America Project help provide military burials for veterans.

  • On Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 9 to 11 a.m. volunteers are invited to participate by placing an American flag at each headstone at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day.
  • On Memorial Day, Monday May 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. bands, soldiers, veterans, families and the public are all invited to the 2013 Memorial Day Observance. Held in honor of deceased veterans, and those who have died while in active service, the moving event takes place on the grounds of the 561-acre national cemetery in Solano County.
  • On Tuesday, May 28 from 4 to 5 p.m. volunteers can help remove the American flag placed at each headstone, to be packed for use next year.
