Listen To Your Body

A review of the new book, BODY TALK NEVER LIES by Natalie K.Y. Davis, CMT, DC Ed, IWR Press, 2012

By C. MacDonald

First time author Natalie K.Y. Davis has written a thought-provoking book, “Body Talk Never Lies,” that details the mind-body connection critical to living life to the fullest. The body and mind are in constant communication with each other and when our body talks, we better listen. This book will help you understand its language, which one day may even save your life. It adds meaning to the old terms, “gut-feeling” and “listen to your body.” It details the relationship of the intestinal tract and the emotional brain as well as how old experiences can resurface, causing headaches, constipation and even lead to disease.

In a simple, straight-forward manner, the author, a colon hydrotherapist and board certified instructor, shares patient problems and solutions, involving her, psychologists, medical doctors and other professionals. She shows how breathwork, massage and acupressure assist in the healing process. “I believe the way we eat and eliminate is a microcosm of the way we live in lives,” said the certified holistic counselor, who has had a private practice for 24 years in Huntington Beach, Ca. “If we are eating good and eliminating well, we are moving with the flow of life.”

Her stories are told with wisdom and even humor. She received a call from one client’s husband, saying, “What did you do to my wife? In 18 years of marriage, she has never raised her voice to me and now she told me off in many ways–it’s like you unleashed a dragon that I never knew was there. Whatever you did to my wife, I want the same kind of bodywork and need to make an appointment with you!”

“Traditional methods of healing are of critical importance but a parallel focus on bodywork, as detailed in this book, allows for a fuller integration of the energy systems inherent and alive in all of us,” wrote Dr. Michael Ward, MD.
