Living Nativities in California

Published on: December 04, 2012

Don’t be surprised when you notice a sudden rash of animal sightings in your vicinity. Around Christmas time churches rent animals such as sheep, mules and lambs, and they turn the critters into animal actors on the Living Nativity stage. The weeks leading up to Christmas (December 25) are popular times churches produce their annual Living Nativity events for the public to see and experience. Often using real barnyard animals and calling on local participants to dress in costumes and maybe say a few lines, you’ll usually see scenes such as Joseph & Mary wandering in search of a place to sleep for the night,  and the Nativity complete with manger, bales of hay, and a real baby playing the part of Jesus occasionally.

Here are some living nativities happening in 2012 : (Note: A few of these are not LIVING nativities )
