Long Beach Comic and Horror Con a Blast From Past

Published on: November 05, 2012

Here is 2013 Comic & Horror Con Update!

LONG BEACH, CALIF. — Sometimes futuristic, but mostly a blast from the past, the 4th annual Comic and Horror Expo in Long Beach wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with a heat wave  (hit 90 degrees in the city) and a bunch of cool costumes, comics to buy, activities such as laser tag and roller derby and people dressed in costumes that would make you think it’s Halloween all over again. Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Star Wars and Nightmare on Elm Street 3 were a small sampling of the cast of characters appearing at the show.

The event held at Long Beach Convention Center is a popular attraction for artists, actors and vendors selling comics mostly, but also costumes, artwork and even pitching their concepts to potential buyers. Open to the public, over 10,000 comic and horror film fans and pros came to celebrate one of about half a dozen such shows held west of the Rockies that many of them attend.  The best known in California is the Comic-Con (comic-con.org)  held in San Diego July 18-21, 2013, but people at the Long Beach show said it is beginning to grow and rival the other. For those who missed it, next year you can attend the Long Beach Comic Expo on May 11, 2013, or Long Beach Comic & Horror Show (longbeachcomiccon.com) November 23-24, 2013.
