SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — Some moms and daughters like to shop, head for the salon and take mini-vacations. But a special group, Mothers and Daughters Club Assisting Philanthropies (MADCAPS), celebrates 56 years of community service with its annual benefit show March 10-12, 2016, “MADCAPS, IN HARMONY WITH SAN DIEGO”. Tickets can be purchased at: sdmadcaps.org
MADCAPS’s volunteers, approx. 180 mothers and their grades 7-12 daughters from Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Hills and Hillcrest, provide direct service and donations to charitable organizations in San Diego. Thousands of hours of community service and $828,000 in donations since 1960 have gone to YMCA Becky’s House, UCSD Bannister House, Rady’s Children’s Hospital, San Diego Adaptive Sports & Foundation, San Diego Humane Society, Senior Olympics, Elder Help, Bayside Community Center, and San Diego River Park Foundation. MADCAPS also volunteer their time at the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk and Autism Speaks.
