While some of California’s finest museums such as The Getty in Los Angeles (pictured) and nearby Getty Villa are free every day they are open, one special day a year is a free day for admission to many museums throughout the state. Produced by Smithsonian Magazine, their website facilitates the acquisition of your free admission ticket to the event held annually on a weekend in September.

The event’s success has been so tremendous that several years ago the ticket process was instituted to make things run smoothly. As it stands now, you go to their website and can download only 1 free admission ticket to an available museum.

Free on September 22, 2018
