There’s more to Julian than mom’s apple pie. Though apples steal the show in the autumn at Julian Apple Days featuring delicious fruit pies, apple cider and even a special apple wine, the winter has its own special beauty. This gold rush-era town (and historic landmark) nestled in the beautiful Cuyamaca mountains at around 4,226 elevation, was founded after the first and only few flecks of gold were discovered in 1869.
Approx. 60 miles from San Diego’s famed beaches and over 1 million residents, Julian has barely grown or changed during the past 150 years or so, and today has a little more than 1,000 residents! What visitors love best about Julian is the historic buildings, quaint shops, comfy cafes, and locals who embrace simple ways. It’s a wonderful life up in the mountains of San Diego County!
