Olvera Street Blessing of the Animals

PEOPLE BLESS MANY THINGS, BUT IN CALIFORNIA THE FAVORITE BLESSINGS ARE THE WINE GRAPES & PETS

On Saturday, April 19, 2014,  from Noon to 5 p.m., the annual Blessing of the Animals on Olvera Street takes place. Thousands come to the full day event which is a festival of people and animals — roosters, chickens, iguanas, geckos, dogs, birds, fish in bowls, llamas, snakes, lizards, bugs, rats and cats. Archbishop Jose Gomez gives the blessings at this annual celebration which began in 1930. Location: 125 Paseo de la Plaza, Los Angeles, CA.  See:  lacity.org
